missing problem
Discussion
any one had a missing problem from 1200 to 2000 revs ?.it does not sound serious , the car idles nicely then its not running on all eight up untill 2000 then it clears and everyhing is fine .boot it and you dont notice a thing but when cruising around 50 mph i am aware of the problem , changed , roter arm , dizzy cap , and new leads . tell you the truth ive had a enough .as a result of the car not running well my mpg is down to fifteen and thats taking my time .
As I have posted in many previous threads, I had similar and replaced a lot of bits as you have done, but ultimately it came down to the HT leads being around the wrong way (before I changed them). Printed off a diagram showing the firing order, reconnect the leads and found that numbers 6 & 7 were around the wrong way, so I swapped them over, not missed a beat since.
Also, might be an idea for you to reset the ECU if you haven't already done so. Just unplug it or disconnect the battery for a minute or so.

There are times when you have to go to the experts, you can spend a lot of money changing things that are not faulty, you can also adjust thinks that don't need adjusting, disturb components, wiring etc etc. Perhaps they will have come across your problem a hundred times and have thousands of pounds of diagnostic equipment, indeed not only will they cure the problem, they may make it better than before it went wrong.
It's advisable to use a genuine Lucas rotor arm, some of the aftermarket ones send the spark straight down the rotor.
As it could be caused by one of a number of things I'd do as another poster suggested and take it to your local TVR specialist. Swapping things out serially may cure it but it might take a lot of time and money to get there. The upside is you end up with a lot of useful spares!

slipped on the key board , sorry
ajusted timming
ajusted throttle body
set the ajustable malpassi 1;1 fuel regulator ,
re set the ecu
used the diagnostic equiptment
and the most important thing remove the crap after market rotor arm and fitted a genuine land rover part .
the dizzy was advancing to much so the advance and retard was disconected.
my next job is to have a mapped chip ,the rev limiter cuts the engine out a bit early and as you know the standard chips are not the best , they run a little on the rich side when cruising .
