Bit the Bullit!!
Discussion
A few of you may remember a couple of months ago i posted about my dilemma of what to do with my Santa Cruz Chameleon that i have. Basically the bike is old(1999 frame) but still in great condition but really a wee bit small really.

So i was undecided to either keep the bike as is for playing on
or a new frame or bike? So after getting back out cycling properly for the first time in a long time the bug has been well and truly caught again!!
After discovering all the great new runs and jumps in Swinley forest and riding a mates bike (patriot with Totem coils) and loving it,the lure of a "freeridey" type bike and few trips to Wales and home to Scotland has led to this finally arriving yesterday!!

An '08 Santa Cruz Bullit in large with the X kit and all mountain upgrade and all i can say is wow!!! Hopefully get out to Swinley this afternoon and get it dirty!!
I know that some will think is is too heavy and too OTT for this country but for the riding i will be doing i think it will be just fine. Seems to pedal really well and not TOO heavy but i am no cross country whippet and so will not be used for 4 hour XC rides thats for sure.
Will get some feedback later once i've been out

Yeah, keeping the Chameleon for playing about and when out with the kids and stuff.
Had a good couple of hours on the bike today and it was bloody good fun. Just mucking about and playing with the suspension settings and really just trying to get used to a full suspension bike again!! The last time i rode a full sus was my GT LTS DH back in the late nineties!!
The downhill stuff at Swinley it coped with very well, all the roots, berms and drops were soaked up easily but still with lots of "feel" as to what the bike was doing.
The most surprising aspect was how well it actually pedals and copes with flowing singletrack and the ups. Me and a mate hired out an Orange 5 and a SC Heckler few weeks back and i would say that it was just as easy to hustle the Bullit round a place like Swinley with its superb single track and relatively short climbs as it was the the 2 other bikes!! Not saying it would be ideal for long marathon type rides but that's not my thing anyway.
It weighs in at 36 pounds which is a shade heavier than the Chameleon but being several pounds heavier than i should be,ahem,i dont think i will notice much!!!
