Advice before track time?

I know this is a little way off, but I'm determined to make the most of it - I've been offered a 'driving experience' in an Exige at Silverstone at the TRAX show, first weekend in September. I think it's only about 15 minutes but AFAIK I get to drive throughout with an instructor beside me, and I don't want to waste any more time than necessary picking up the basics.

I've never driven on a track before, and I've never driven anything even remotely like an Exige before, in terms of power or handling. I do, however, drive fast, and safely, on a regular basis (paramedic response car), and I have driven RWD cars a couple of times recently during skid control sessions so I'm hoping that may help in some small way.

Is there anything I can do in the meantime to help me prepare? I'm looking for tips, advice, suggestions - anything you've got really!

From my experience I wouldn't say the TRAX event was the best place to get your first taste of track days. It's only one step up from the infamous Castle Combe and Knockhill circuit 'magazine' days where lots of numpties try to show off to their mates.

I'd personally go on a novice day with one of the more reputable track day companies.

However if this is professionally organised & free and there's no accident liability/excess on you, then go and have fun - they car supplier should take car of everything else unless they've specifically stated exclusions on any documentation they've sent you.
