Porsche Forum PHers at BTaP
Discussion
Just had a quick look through the PH calendar listings for BTaP. I think over two thirds of the tickets have now been sold, any Porsche Forum regulars dithering over wether to book or not had better jump down from the fence pretty soon, especiallly if you want to book hotel rooms at the venue.
Hope to see many of you there, if only to give Domster a hard time for rambling on about the 964RS so often.

I had intended to go,but of late some of the egos mostly from general gassing that come out into other forums has made me think that I really wouldn't enjoy the evening.
I prefer to keep my PH activities to automotive events with friendly enthusiasts who enjoy their cars, rather than people telling how great they are even before they have had a drink!

Oh dear. That's a shame. :timetokickthenuttersoff:
All I would say is that there are 140 people signed up so far and hopefully not that many 'egos' going

Ted,,sorry If I sounded too negative.I am still enthusiastic for Pistonheads,I look forward to the next Caterham day, bruntingthorpe and met with 5-6 fellow pistonheads pork enthusiasts over the weekend.
I guess as Pistonheads involves an ever expanding community, there will be events that appeal more to different contributors.
I wish you every success for BT&P and like everything else on Pistonheads I am sure it will eclipse the previous event.

It's important to me to try and keep PH distinct from the other car forums around the net. The vast majority descend into flame wars or simply have too little interesting content.
Maintaining intelligent debate, genuine humour, interesting contributions etc are important. As well as pride, there are commercial reasons for trying to maintain standards. A forum full of affluent 25+ males with spending power is a valuable one. A forum full of sixth formers isn't.

But we are all ex-sixth formers at heart, and that's the trouble when those fingers get a tappin' on the keys faster than the brain can add the moderation.
I agree with you though Ted, I enjoy the both the humourous banter and tecnical issues (Let's not mention the latest Porsche option lists) but there is absolutely nothing worse than flame war forums. Keep it up boyo.

Looking at the photos of the BT&P on the advert does nothing but reinforce my previous statement about 6th formers.
So that's right up my street then.
I'll 'ave a word with 'er indoors, although I suspect we may be booked for that weekend at the Porsche Club Speed Championship awards evening.

9m I don't think Ted really means the Porker forum, its in General gassing where things have become rather teenage chatroom like.
Glad you are on the case Ted, I know CS is not alone in his thoughts.
Daz ref BTaP not at the mo.
I'm with you and CS on this,Iguana. At least Ted is aware of the promlem.
Steve
Yeah it is nice to come back on the abuse Domster the badger worrier forum- opps typo
I mean the Porsche forum
Anyway I've made some decent mates through this forum, so if any kids start getting silly on 'ere even I might have to be sensible and grown up
Ps very off this topic question for superlighr
That trackday late last yr I met you at, can you remember who was the organiser? i.e. easytrack etc?

BTaP last year was a thoroughly classy event, and having gone to my fair share of Law Balls at the Savoy, it was a darn sight more fun
I am sure that BTaP this year will be just as good, if not better, and that there is no reason to fear yourselves being mugged by a bunch of idiotic teenagers that may or may not be posting in General Gassing. If they do turn up they will be in a minority and are unlikely to be as annoying in real life - web forums often bring out the best and worst in people's characters. Look at me. I love cupholders really
Some of the negative perceptions to this year's event-to-be have been from those who haven't been to a BTaP before, so I would ask anyone who has doubts to chat to a PHer who went last year and find out how good the event was. We had a good cross section of people in 2002, including Mungo, who only added to the night's entertainment
