As there does seem to be some interest in driving the cars off road at the moment I was wondering how many would be interested in our own version of Vmax.

Its basically a high speed run down a runway and you don`t need to throw your car round corners or brake hard if you don`t think that the car (or you) are up to it.

If there is enough interest I`ll have a look for a venue but I warn you It`ll be about £150.00 per head so think hard before you express an interest because I expect I`ll have to stump up the track hire in advance.

Like I said its early day`s so I have no more real info just yet but I`ll work on it if there`s enough genuine interest.

(Bonnie, It`ll be like a 1-1 1/2mle long drag race to give you some idea what a Vmax day is.)

I may be interested depending on distance to venue. Is that likely to be sufficient distance to really stretch the legs?

Count me in subject to dates.
Unless you are heavily modified the best you could hope for is 160-170ish. I am sure that many of the cars are capable of a lot more but unless anyone knows of a 5 mile runway we are not likely to find out.

Still a decent speed and great fun though :-)

I'd say the cars are very easily capable of reaching 180ish on that long of a strait away. Slowing down from that speed is another problem.
Last sat night I was going around 175 mph in my friends modded GTO.

A pretty standard 04 VXR easily gets VMAX at 167 using 5th gear on the red line. You don't need much road either. 6th is useless and you only get 140 tops.

Think most cars here will hit a fair lick in that sort of distance.
Main thing is you don`t have to keep an eye out while you`re doing it so its much more relaxing.
Unless of course Stu can pull strings and get us all on the banked track in Bedfordshire.

A common GPS could be used to log time, they are supposed to be fairly accurate. Plus you could also log the run from engine parameters.
Else you can probably rent a police laser from some crowd or other.

Yep I fancy having a blast at that, Jez. Save having to use the M-way.

Race Technology's AX22 would do timing ( Ive had one for a few years now )

Although the current Racelogic drift box style stuff is cheaper, and I think more user friendly....

fun toys.
