The Vixen passed its MoT today! It has just done its first 50 miles in 15 years!

Would have come to work in it tonight but the bloody DVLA have it down as PLG instead of historic so the Post Office would not tax it! Shut em all down I say!

Will it make Le mans??

This was my first drive in the car, are the diffs always quite noisy? Seemed loudest in 3rd then more quiet in 4th. (box/diff, I dunno?).

Congrats on getting her on the road again , Mine re-entered service after 18 yrs off the road in May this year .

I also had probs with the DVLA , apparently you can't register it as historic till youve got it MOT's and you can't MOT it till youve got a V5 ( and of couse that doesnt show it as historic) and hence its all screwed up - still got mine on historic after a couple of weeks and got a refund on the road tax licence I had to pay . - I agree - shoot the lot of em ....

Diff should not be noisy. Sounds more like the gearbox though.

Went through this process about 4 years ago. I filled all the forms in at the DVLA office, they gave me a tax disc (free!!) and sent off the forms for up-dating....... a week later back they came with the taxation class changed to.....Disabled ! Were they trying to tell me something? Sent it off again and they got it right second time.

Still gives me a big grin to go in to the post office and do the "6 months or a year?....Ah.. a year and YES that'll be free then!"

Well done on getting it back on the road, quite an achievement. Piccies please!

Phil.

Had to go to local DVLA office in Leeds to sort the tax. Took them 2 seconds, why on earth the Post Office could not do the work I dont know, all they did was (you guessed it) fill out a form to send back to DVLA H/Office. Got my disc though!

Will post piccies soon.

Cheers
Paul.

What's that about not getting an MoT without a V5. I'll be in the same boat in a few weeks time. Getting an an MoT then going along to the DVLA office in Chelmsford to get the taxation class changed and getting a free tax disc.

The garage working on my car say they'll MoT it.

Anyway pictures are needed on this thread. biggrin

First trip out today. Only problem was the speedo has stopped working, broken cable I think.

Anyway, here are some pics, the first couple as found in January, then as she is today (sorry no bonnet badge yet!) :-

By the way, this is of course my first experience of the car and I LOVE driving it!!!!!!

Congratulations, you must be very pleased with the results. Your find pictures take me back to the state of my car when I found it.

Well done!

CONGRATULATIONS!
She's lovely.
You should feel quite proud of your accomplishment.
Best wishes to a long and happy ownership (guardianship?).

Bernard.
