I've just been offered a Porsche 968CS in mint condition (45k left hooker), which I know is genuine at £15k. Now.... a) Is it worth it? b) If I keep it in as good condition as it already is will it hold its value?

Now please bear in mind this is not a case of should I buy this or another car, this is do I buy the Porsche or keep the money! I am having trouble deciding. I already know the 968 is a cracking car, period, so thats not the issue.

Bear in mind, you guys could be making the decision for me!

Its a bit over priced for a left hooker, clubsports mint RHD similar miles car (with recent cams- make sure you get these ones checked before you consider £2k bill if you need 'em!)was at that level.

Does it have the MO30 option as they are worth a bit more & more desirable to the track day massive.

WAY overpriced, please let me know next time you visit Planet earth & are ever looking to buy a car..I will be more than happy to find you a nice one for such money.
I wouldn't look to pay any more than £10.5-11k,M030 will add £1.5-2k on this depending if it has suspension, lsd &brakes fitted.
Good luck.

Some nugget was flying a kite on a RHD one in Porsche Post in WHITE for 19k... when there is a 964RS for 24k in the same issue... hmmmmm.

If the example you saw was in speed yellow with MO30 options, I would say that is only overpriced by a gnat's todger. If it is in a less sought after colour, non M030, I think 11k is nearer the mark.

There was a RHD in white (non M030) for sale when I was looking for an RS, from an OPC in Scotland, for 11995. Even allowing for price increases over the last 18 months, you can see the level that prices should be at.

I bought a 1994, LHD 968 CS in red with red wheels, 52k in beautiful condition last Wednesday. It was up for sale at £9.5k and after having it checked over and some extended haggling, they were emigrating which helped the proceedings in my favour, i got it for £8,000. I'm having a Thatcham cat1 fitted today as i've been feeling really paranoid about it being nicked and of course Norwich union insist that it be fitted.

The Pas,alt, cam, bal belts, tensioner & roller were done at 45k, because the cam belt broke and 8 exhaust valves had to be changed at the same time.

I think it's a bit of an odd one, it was first registered to Porsche, Stuttgart as their press car for the first 2 years of it's life and it was factory fitted with a comfort pack, so cloth sports seats instead of the fibreglass buckets, rear seats, central locking and air con, which is what i wanted anyway. Manual everything else.

I looked for over a month and of the very few adverts for Club Sports, i'd agree with the other comments that a LHD should be going for around £10.5k to £12.5k

This is my first Porsche and i've been smiling ever since i got it, especially when driving it, i find myself speeding up when i come to corners now just to feel that grip.

good luck.

Woah there! Can't blame the guy for asking a question. I hoped you would offer some constructive help with this. The car is absolutely concourse but we've decided not to go ahead with it anyhow.

I've always felt a little silly asking questions on here as I feel very novice (I simply enjoy driving and looking after our Porsche) and reply's like that don't necessarily help people to come forward with genuine questions to save them from being fleeced.

There are a lot of people on here including yourself CS that I have a great deal of respect for as you really know your stuff and i've learned a lot. Please don't spoil it with remarks that could make people feel small.

Sorry you feel offended by the response,,that wasn't meant to come over as such...Interesting you choose to highlight the single quote and don't use the rest of the post that went on to give advice on price..etc.

I recently spent 3 months looking at various 968 CS,bought a good rhd car.I was more than happy to post offering some guidance from the experience of someone who has been through the process.

The "planet earth" thing was meant in reference to the way the car was priced,as you may see from the red lhd car mentioned in later posts.

If you are looking for a car i would suggest checking out www.968.net this is a forum site that links to many other 968 sites,i actually bought my 968 from a member of that forum.

I will make sure I am extra careful when replying to any of your posts in the future so that the advice is only helpful and not offensive.

Perhaps just going a little easier on the new-uns amongst us would suffice. I'm sure we'll be in the swing of it soon giving as good we we get.

Meantime, cheers for the site. I'll go across for a nosey now.

Seems like it's just the old problem of text not really getting over the writer's intended tone.

Pork Girl, I'm still pretty inexperienced in all things Porsche but have been coming on this forum for a few months now and can assure you they're a knowledgable but friendly & helpful lot!

I thought CS was being humorous with this comment, and he wasn't far of the mark, IMHO, from a factual point of view. But then again, I know CS and would take his comments in a more familiar way.

Sorry you took offence PG, I'm sure CS didn't mean it (having met him, he's not that kind of guy ).

Okay, perhaps I took it the wrong way. In future I promise to remember that you're all a bunch of car loving lunatics like myself and be a little less pre-menstrual about it!

Promise!

As has been said that sounds exepnsive. Is that 45K miles or kms? Mine's a left hooker, was in immaculate condition with a FPSH and 85K on the clock. I paid 11K for it.

Edited to add: Just realied I'm hoplessley late on this one already. Must remember to look at posting dates and read the whole thread!

Bit of a stupid question (so please dont bite my head off clubsport! ) but was a roll cage ever a option on a new 968CS? or would it be a thing that would be retro-fitted?

Kind regards,

Please dont hurt me for my lack of knowledge!

Never a factory option AFAIK, but you can get them aftermarket, I think. Scottster was looking into one.
