does any one know if a medium specialized mtb will fit in the back of a 911 (996) or an M3 CSL? thanks

not sure if you can fold down the seats of the m3 - but I can get easily 2 bikes in my e46 coupe if you take the wheels off and fold the back seats down.

Which do you own already, the car or the bike?

I'd get a roof system for carrying bikes as your interior will end up getting marked no matter how careful you are.

Saw a dude a Cwmcarn last weekend dismantle a massive Foes DH bike and put it under the bonnet of a 996 GT3!

Will the cardboard floor in the CSL stand up to a (dirty and oily) bike being thrown in it regularily?

Already have the bike - selling 2 cars (elise and A3) to get one that does a bit of everything. Quite fancy a porker - but M3 csl looking more practical if the seats fold down.

Agreed on the inevitable few scratches if i stick it inside the car, but would always be taking and putting on the rook rack, which would do my head in, and probably result in scratches to the exterior paint work!

Why not get the porker and a cheap hack for transporting bikes?

I can get my medium zaskar into my hatchback mondeo with the seats down without taking the bike apart at all.

I can also get three mtb's in it plus alot of riding gear and 3 people in it too by only taking the front wheels off.

Bloody big inside it is!

Transporting a bike in a sports car: I get the bike as clean as I can then put the bike inside one of the big thick plastic bags you get when you have a matress delivered.

Bottom line is you can reduce the size of the bike in a few ways to fit in small places, I:

take of the wheels, and put them in wheel bags (these go on the passanger seat, of could go across the back seats of a 911.
deflate the forks (make the hieght more compact)
take off one pedal
take out the seatpost
take off the bar
some bubble wrap in the boot / covering the pain as you place the bike in the boot

and I can fit an MTB in the boot of a Tamora. Yes it is a pain, but worth it if you don't have a sensible car

Why not get a Caterham (or similar) and velcro the bike to the roll bar?

Roof system may be a bit of a no no on the carbon roof CSL, so why not go for a last of the line CS?

Not sure TBH. He was a while at it and we were just going past in the uplift van. I guess he probably did. Had a set of triple tricked out Foes forks on it. They're 250mm travel I belive!

Or pay £70 for a Dirtworker so you can wash the bike down after the ride, meaning it's clean to go in the car.

thanks for the comments. not sure about the 911, but the seats fold down in the m3 so i can get a bike bag to keep the interior tip-top.

more than one car isn't an option - only one parking space.

You could fit one of those car lifts or submersed garages?

An actual answer to this thread for you as I did the same this weekend.

Managed to fit my canondale bad boy and my mates nutty mountain bike in the back of my csl with the 60/40 splut rears, one down. Both wheels off on both bikes and frames stood at an angle covered in two sheets. All four wheels behind the seats. Use some bubble wrap to protect the seats -job done!
