Just a thought, if you were to spend a lot of money on an Elise based vehicle would you go for a 2-11 for about 40k or go for an all out stripped down, Honda-ed up, Nitroned, alloy-belled, magnesium wheeled s1 with all the bells and whisles?

If I ever get my Yamaha engined Fiat 500 finished this will be my next decision!

From the purely practical point of view it would be the Elise - you can even fit a reasonable stereo for getting to and from track.

The stereo would be ripped out in a weight saving quest!

I really liked the 2-11 I drove for a day at Hethel last year - easily the quickest track tool that Lotus have ever produced and its a great off the shelf solution....if you have £40K for a toy car that is.

Id sooner have a used SC Honda Elise, fully sorted - often going at £25K now, which will perform the same, if not quicker, but also can be used in all weathers, and as a back up car for work etc...in other words you can use it more often.

Of course if you compete in certain types of motorsport and want to be in a competitive class, then the 2-11 i s the best option as its a factory produced car etc.

Horses for courses really - the 2-11 weighs is about the same weight as a track spec S1 or S2, but of course you can have up to 350bhp (ish) with the SC Honda whereas even with the rumoured power pack, the 2-11 will be'just' 280bhp

This will still be an interesting argument to have in 3 years when used 2-11's may be cheaper, but Honda Elises still cost the same !wink

Up to 350hp now? Is this spec from that Aussie car?

Would the 12-month warranty still be avail. for this spec?

Ta
the Aussie car runs that spec and was a test vehicle (being quite warm out there!), as do approx 10 other customers right now, and its an off the shelf option for the Link-Up kit - 350bhp and yes, 12 month warranty on new conversions I believe smile

Wow, Scuffers been busy eh... how much extra you reckon it'll be over the standard SC ?

350hp with a 12 month warranty will whet a LOT of appetites... too bad on the timing tho... the economy's really going down the drain fast.

Almost!

The two cars in Aus are running higher than the default offering for the off the shelf kit (in the interests of development and pushing the envelope with the parts).

the first of the customer kit's have/are being fitted and are showing 30-40Bhp increase over the non-intercooled ITR DC5 JRSC installs they are based on at the same boost levels.

(cleary there is scope to push these harder, although at the moment they are not being offered above this spec with full warrentee)

...nearly correct thenwink

30-40bhp over a DC5 kit !!! ...my old car with the DC5 manifold was approx 320-5bhp ish at the fly...so it would be like 350-60bhp ish?!

that would do nicely...it was out of warranty anywaywink
