Nurburgring Paxlaps...
Discussion
I'm off to the ring on 20th - 21st July (staying at the Ringhaus), and because I'm a ring virgin I was hoping for some passenger laps with someone who can drive! I've tried to get a ring taxi but they sell out in an instant. Is anyone from the forum going for that weekend, and is anyone willing to offer me a passenger seat..? I'm taking my B5 S4, and a friend is taking his Jag S-type R...

had tuition with them for one hour this last weekend. worth its weight in gold.
as for pax laps, if you don't mind a bit of rejection ask people in the car park. it got me a pax lap in three seperate evos. wasn't particularly after an evo lap, just so happened that they didn't refuse.
my cousin got a pax lap in a CSL, DC5, track prepped civic and something else i cant remember. enjoy yourself!

irf, thanks for that. I intend enjoying myself... I've been wanting to do the ring for years and my friends reckon it'll turn into an annual trip.
One slight problem.. my car is a B5 S4 and it's playing up. It's got flat spots and it may be a problem with a MAF or EGT sensor, but I'm working out of the country until the 17th July so it leaves me one day to get the car sorted at MRC in Banbury, I hope they can sort it or the trip is off! Fingers crossed.

I've taken dozens of people around and never turned anyone down, including people who have just walked up in the carpark.
Agree that just getting in random cars is a lottery though. Better to try to get chatting to people try to work out what their experience & attitude are.
Also worth asking on Northloop.co.uk and the Ringers forum to see which regulars are going to be there as those groups are very friendly about providing pax laps and also safe.
Tuition with RSR is highly reccomended though, plus that will get you some pax laps with the pros which will really impress.
If you use your own car it costs around 250 Euros for 2 hours.

When i was at the ring i had 3 people (young guys early 20's) ask for passenger laps, i had to say sorry as after all the hassle and expense of getting there for 15 laps or so of the ring i wasn't prepared to turf out my mate who was really enjoying the experience, the guys did offer to pay for the lap passes so not to 'use up' my own but time was also short and the ferry crossing was looming nearer. If i did start taking people out i'd feel guilty for taking one then not others. Thats how i felt about it anyway. Had i been on my own i'd happily have taken passengers.
Fair enough, no one should feel obligated, even if its just because you want the car to yourself.
Today I did 27 laps taking 13 different passengers around, some 2 or 3 times. Beware if a biker asks as they always seem to travel in packs with lots of mates !

I really feel the extra weight of a pax in my elise, its an extra 10 - 15% so it was really nice to have the sharpness back for the last few laps of the day.
Cracking day though, zero closures, nice weather, carpark full but not so full it was ever hard to park. No queues getting on or off. I thought days like this on weekends were a thing of the past, today was a great reminder of how good it can be.

Almost always yes. If your at the 'Ring and someone asked for a pax lap would you ???

I've taken family, friends, random strangers and hairy German bikers round; if I've an empty front seat you're welcome to fill it. This is my hobby, let me show you how much fun it is

Swapping laps is also good - you can learn things from others as they can from you.
A tip - take a lid. I'm more comfortable carrying a helmeted passenger and some won't take you at all if you haven't got one (caged cars particularly)
