Everytime I read a post on here (Bar a couple) it seems to be very pro K Series and S1. Does anyone enjoy there 111R?

The 111R is a fantastic carsmile we just hassle 'yota owners because they like their luxuries and lard... they hassle us because we like replacing head gaskets and questionable build qualitywink

The thing is, if you're after a toy just for the driving pleasure, the S1 will usually win out... if you're looking for a fun daily driver, the 111R is a far better tool.. horses for courses smile

Yes, I love my 111R. Went out for 2 blasts yesterday, one in the morning when it was a big muggy and damp air, then wow did the car come alive in the dry air of the afternoon, was like a completely different car, reminded me of why I bought it (was starting to get a bit bored, lol).

What exactly is so luxurious and lardy about a 111r? They are all option packs.

I've noticed the same. The R engine seems to really love hot weather??? These past few weeks with the warmer weather mine has started burbling and popping again a lot whereas during the wintery months it was much quieter. Weird!

I've got a S2 Exige so same engine as the R which is what all the controversy tends to be about. I think there are two elements to it. Firstly the 'yota's power delivery. Some people do not like the narrow power band, others love it. Compare this to the more linear K series and you have two very differently driving cars.

Then you have the HGF reputation of the K series. Whether or not it is justifiably earned is questionable but it does get a lot of stick for it. I suspect K series owners are more than eager to defend them and point out that the 'yota is not bullet proof and suffers if buzzed and can suffer from oil starvation in extreme circumstances.

So basically you've got two camps, both love their cars and neither want faults repeatedly highlighted. The K engine tends to get more stick so therefore is more eagerly promoted when the chance arises.

Personally I love the R as it suits my driving style for recreational driving. If I was using it as my only car I suspect I wouldn't.

The S1 vs. S2 argument... another story altogether!

Stu I love your 111r LOTS! Don't worry mate.

Stu's little 111R is what changed my mind about the Elise. I always wanted an Exige and only an Exige. But after being the passenger and having a little drive I was hooked. So now I'm the proud own of a S1 Sport 160. Both great little cars and the only reason I ended up with a S1 and not S2 is I can't afford a S2. Mine is just a toy and I have my old Mercedes bus for the boring commute. Which uses loads more fuel then the Elise and is dull as ditch water to drive. But rides speed humps with ease. If I didn't have the bus, the S2 would be the car for me as the Sport 160 is a pig to drive smoothly in traffic.

Get some vernier pullies fitted and the engine re-timed. (see DVA power for this) will run smooth as a kitten in traffic and wont take any of the 160 esc... away. One of the best things I ever did to mine...

The car already has vernier pullies and has the remapped ECU. It still kangaroos down the road. It doesn't both me until I use it to come into work on the odd occasion. Between speed bumps on light throttle it starts doing it.

We will need to run a comparison on alpine roads purely for testing purposes!

The things you have to do for these forums!

The 111R is a lovely car, I would have bought one if the 111S didn't exist.
