Hello all,

Right, I've made my way into the alternator and the belt is in full view. This after having removed all purple pipes, fuel injectors, air con unit and loads of pipes and bits.

How do I get the flamin belt off without removing the unit.

Pics would be nice but a description will be more than adequate.

Cheers all...

Not sure you can. frown I guess you could try to loosen off the mounting bolts to see if you can get some play / clearance.

Drivers side of the alternator 6mm Hex Head Bolt, with 13mm Nyloc Nut At the back, Loosen this bolt and push the alternator down, remove old and knackered belt off alternator pulley and then remove off water pump rear drive pulley, fit new belt, water pump first, then alternator pulley, making sure the belt is in the grooves of the pulleys correctly,Then using a leavering tool (another body is usually good at this point )Tension Belt tight,by leavering up the alternator and tighten the 6mm Hex bolt.refit Fuel Rail and start engine before putting on induction pipes to check for squeeling and that the belt is running true on both pulleys,if ok then refit induction pipes.Bingo Job Done

I need to run the car without the alternator running/working. I presume this is ok for a short time?

If your battery is in good shape you should get 50 miles out of the battery without too much bother. Best to keep all fans/lights/radio etc off though.

Nemasis quoted that the belt drives the water pump as well. Will this cause any problems. I only want to run it for a minute or two?
