Anyone experience of the Turbo Technics supercharged set up- specificaly the 190 kit & track use.

Chatting to a fella with one recently & hes dead happy with it.

Initially I'd have thought daft idea, but on thinking of it they do seem to suitably uprate the engine road & pistons wise & the fella had tracked his a bit & had been reliable to date.

Like the thought of reasonable midrange on the Elise & if its not a grenade idea this could be a thought?

Bogie on here probably has more experience than most with these. He ran his for a bucket load of miles before it went pop.

I don't think you can get them now as the market just dried up once the Honda conversions became more popular and available.

the 190 spec is very reliable and gives you a nice torquey engine....there are owners on SELCO with 50K on the clock no probs. As usual, advice is to fit a very good oil cooler for track use and it should be fine.

It was always a well developed kit from TT, its just that it was so expensive to fit - £9.5K for a 230 kit when the Honda conversion came along and killed it off

I notice they are offering DIY kits not for about £6K ish +vat IIRC so could be another option if thats what you fancy...but as soon as you are into paying someone £50ph+ and vat etc, its a close call to having a new engine in there...bog std Honda which should last like 100K miles + etc frown

lots of labour on the install - front clam off, 2nd rad install, running pipes for the chargecooler front to rear was all very labour intensive frown

I got one - 2001 S2 tt190 Conversion - had 9 months done 6k bought for 11.5k woth 15k on the clock in great condition. Bought with leaking charge cooler which I sourced second hand for £100. Only other problem was a perished drive belt which I replaced - labour 2 hours for £90 inc fill overhaul/ replacement of tensioner bearings springs and drive wheel.
Love it to bits - evidently the 190's were pretty strong - TT got a bad name with the 260 conversions - too much for a car that owners expected to be as relaible as the stock motor.
Advice - buy one someone else has spent all the money on - you will get the conversion for free.
Main critisism is not with the car - thats great - its just that Pete Bland seems to be the only guy at TT who knows anything about the SC K series - ok when you can get hold of him - bits arrive next day - but if he is busy it takes a few phone calls.....still support the SC conversion so bits are not an issue - best to get one converted by them as internals are uprated - not sure DIY conversions will.
In conclusion I like the idea of having a car which is only 0.2 sec off the new £34k car for the price of an early s2 - plenty of money left over for other mods and trackdays. Insurance not bad at £500 for 41 yr old with reasonable history.
No qualms about recommending the car - bought in preference to the 111r - and no regrets

A friend of mine has the turbo technics SC kit, not in an Elise though. He think his supercharger is on its way out so is looking for a larger one, it's currently running VVC mechs still and is around 215 BHP, it's been tracked for nearly a year now, pulls brilliantly and sounds mean!

Here is one for sale....................

I just don't get the chance to use my TT230 so have decided to sell while there's plenty of summer ahead of us.

Here it is on Pistonheads ... http://pistonheads.com/sales/450884.htm
It's only covered 14k miles and is advertised for £18.5K on pistonheads, but I'm willing to accept £16.5K plus I will include £1500 worth of OZ Racing wheels/Yoko A39s (135R spec) in the deal in return for a quick, easy, hassle-free sale.

It's a rare car up here in Scotland. A real opportunity for someone.

A great review of the TT190 on EVO Mag ... this TT230 is one step beyond:
