Dear All,

I have decided to "Tweek" the Chim a bit, ACT Induction set (still not sure pipercross or K & N Filter) and insulation plate under Plenum (wheels and brakes and drop links also)

Question is... I see posts and hear conversations about different Trumpet legnths within the Plenum, can anyone give advice?

I have bought a spare base with trumpets, so if i Fcensoredk UP i still have the original to fall back on.

Car is a 4ltr, 1994

Once i have sorted this, my next step will be to Castrate the manifolds of their Pre Cats!!!!

Thanks in advance

Steve

If you've got a 5 ltr then leave it alone, they're already shorter than rover ones

Anything else remove the steel trumpet tubes, whip about 25mm off the base of the tube and press them back in with some loctite 618

Send the base as an exchange unit to SC Power and they will send you a Taraka trumpet base (which is smooth bore and has no integral scaffolding tubes) with heat insulation gasket, if you also fit their plenun spacer complete with longer studs you will gain about an extra 5 BHP plus lots of induction roar when you plant your right foot.

Great guys to deal with as well.

I chopped 25mm off mine but I also added a magna parva spacer (aprx 2mm in thickness) to the base of the plenium as a heat shield. After a good blast you can still put your hand onto the plenium and hold it there.

I believe we met at the meet with the Lambo's - email me if you need any more or a helping hand as live in Maldon

The most important thing is to increase the clearance above the trumpets so the roof of the plenum does not restrict the airflow. 15mm will do for this. It could get technical about tuned leingths, the basis being the shorter the trumpet, the further up the rev band the peak torque will be, but I doubt you would notice in real terms on stock components.
