Hey all.

I am currently pottering about in a MK3 Golf VR6 (97), but recently had a bit of a problem in that the blowers/heaters have stopped working, and i cant figure it out!
I've checked the fuses and all are okay, any other ideas and how to fix it!
Any advice would be much appreciated
Cheers all.

Is the fan spinning? Is it leaking coolant?

Not sure about MK3s, but the resistor packs on a MK2 Golf fail all the time. Initially giving you only one speed on the fan then later nothing at all.

I'd gamble resistor pack then chap - I don't think they're expensive even for genuine ones.

Have you got a multimeter? See if it's outputting anything to the motor. It's the little circuit board with a big coil of copper wire strapped to the side of the heater motor/blower itself.

I would guess at resistor pack also. My Mk3 did this. You can buy the part from GSF car parts for a couple of quid less than at a VW dealer. It is the exact same part.
