What should I choose?
Discussion
I now need a car with rear seats so the TVR and MGF will have to go. The thing is what should I go for?, the choice at the moment would be a XKR/XK8 or a Maserati 3200GT. Maybe a Cerbera?. The problem with the Maser is that I am worried about a massive bill in the future for engine repairs. Some of these seem to be reliable and others total money pits, anyone got any experience?. The XK's seem great but I've also read stories about problem with Nikkasil on the early engines?. I should have about £14-15K to spend so should be able to get a convertible Jag. Any other suggestions? (4-5000 miles per year). No BMW's, I appreciate they are good cars but just don't do anything for me.Take a test drive in the Monaro. Many many ex TVR & Jag owners are pleased with the big V8, large boot and fits a family of 4 easily. Greens have one up for £15.5 and its the best model & year. If you dont like the badges, for £120 you can get Holden ones and they are a direct swap.

I had my most expensive service at 60,000 miles. Came out at £260. Outragious.

Difficult to argue with the Monaro on a VFM basis, but petrol bills are horrendous!
Cerbera - getting older and fairly fragile
Masser - Big Bills. Brave pills required
XK8/XKR - Well viewed by owners and generally not stupid bills
What about Merc CL?

Cerbera - 20mpg (4car)

. Good for you though £11k gets you the slightly less powerfull CV8. Same engine just got a bit less equipment. If it was my money I know where it would go.
