The underside of my spoiler is wearing a bit thin and there's a gouge out of the front where I hit a rock in the road so it's going in for repair.

Question.

Has anyone fitted an after-market front end to their Ferrari? (I see they're available for other models as well) and if so, what are the pros and cons. I assume they'll be much cheaper than an OE replacement but what is the panel fit and finish quality like. Are there many manufacturers and are any particular ones recommended?

Option 2 is to rebuild the one that is on that I beleive to be OE

Option 3 is to replace it with a genuine Ferrari one.

I would like to say that cost isn't impirtant but unfortunately, it is.

Any advice is welcome.

Got to be more cost effective to simply have it repaired and re-sprayed, prime reason being that it's going to get hammered and peppered all over again anyway!

I;ve got the same issue on my 355.

My 2c (given it is bound to happen over and over) is to get it repaired by any half decent body shop then get some cheap thick plastic, cut out some under guards (just make a cardboard template) and screw them to the underside of the bumper with countersunk self tappers. Or you could make some out of 2mm aluminium or similar.

Much cheaper and quicker to replace some plastic/metal panels under the fron of the bumper every few months rather than a whole new bumper. Its out of sight so anything to protect will suffice and it will happen repeatedly over the life of the car.

That's what I am going to do anyway.

Or remeber that you're in the Ferrari rather than the Scrote!

Aftermarket panels are available and a very good fit too or if not just fit skid plates they are quite affordable....

Is there such a thing as a 348 skid plate available at a reasonable cost or are we talking skid plates that can be made to fit a 348 with a bit of whittling? This is looking like a very strong option.

Just make sure you check where the plates fit. The skid plates on the 355 sit back from the leading edges (maybe a 6 inch radius) so the leading edge still grounds (which is what has happened to mine).

For what it's worth, here's what I've decided to do.

I bought a new front bumper for the car and will get it painted and fitted. I am also getting a GTS front lip for the front which will act as a sacrificial impact barrier. I will also fit skids to the underside of the front which will sit about 50mm back fron the leading edge of the spoiler and extend 5mm or so below the lowast point so will protect it against grounding.

The old front spoiler will get repaired in my own time and receive the same skids and just hang in the garage as a spare for if this happens again.

Thanks for the advice. I will soon know the quality of fit of the aftermarket front bumpers if anyone needs to know.

Regards
