Whats the story with Lewis and the press?

With Lewis dedicating the race to his family and saying about the last month has been difficult, I've obviously missed something. Can some one let me know whats been going on?

The press basically got on his case after mistakes in both Canada and France - the way he handled the press off-track wasn't exactly clever either.

Anyway, the press now have a new enemy - Raikkonen had something of an altercation with a photographer ahead of the British Grand Prix:

And using his flash about two inches from his face. I'd imagine we'd all have the same reaction.

Turns out he was being touched by the photographer, who was also standing on his equipment - painful!

The photographer "touched" him.
Actually touched him?
Outrageous. Unforgivable. Can you imagine actually touching something so precious as a Formula One driver? Pretty soon these impertinent prols might even have the nerve to speak to the drivers without having been spoken to first.

I suppose, thinking about it, if I was touched by a photographer I wouldn't mind too much, but if that photographer was so close as to invade my space and step on my kit (as reported) I suppose the instinctive reaction would be to eventually after asking a couple of times and perhaps telling him once to back off I'd give him a shove.

I wonder why, with the huge lenses and such that these guys use, he had to get (again, as reported..) get so close as to actually become a problem for the driver. I seem to recall some time ago Montoya losing it with a photographer that got so close that Montoya got struck on the face by the camera lens. May seem trivial, but what would have happened if he'd damaged an eye or something - career over!

I wasn't there to see the events unfolding but I have to say on what has been reported I'd tend to agree with Kimi.

A poor display from Kimi - I think the expression 'twat' is highly appropriate - especially given who the photographer was! It's as much their job to have photos taken of them as it is to win the race - I could see no evidence of Kimi asking the bloke to back off.

From that youtube video there is no sign of him touching Kimi and when you look at what is on the ground the only thing he could have stood on was a red umbrella. Something of an over-reaction from my viewpoint. Good job for him he drives a red car, and that is not paranoia, it is just a judgement of mine based on previous actions by the FIA.

Who was the photograher? His physio has a moan at the guy for standing on kimis equipment, kimi just gives him a shove out the way. Big deal.
