Nurburgring end of August

Are there any events going on? Ben Lovejoy's site seems to be off air ATM and I'd like to check if the days we had planned were tourisfarten days or not.

Well two full days 30/31st August, myself and a friend will be there, and I am generally expecting it to be really busy, travelling over on the Frinday, back on the Monday.

Oops, too late.

It might be a good & (relatively) quiet weekend as it's not a German public holiday - should mean less traffic, i.e. only 'really busy' rather than 'really really really busy'.

Oh yeah! Frinday. One of the additional days in the metric week I believe. Between Thursday and Kartopplekoffday.

Might well do as my other mate's at Redding festival on the 23/24. You guys camping or staying in a hotel?

We're in some kind of apartment. We (well Dakkon actually did the leg work), did have a little trouble finding a cheap ish hotel type accom. So you might be "forced" to camp...

I'm going the same weekend (29th until 31st August) and I booked my hotel three weeks ago and last week a friend of mine decided to come along and they got a room no problem.

Double room 85 Euros, cheap when divided by two.

That's the weekend I'm planning on going over - although I'm being bit greedy as I was there at the end of June too

I must remember to take my SPF50 and sun-hat this time though, as I got lobstered watching the VLN on the Saturday.

Tourist Days are always busy, it's just that some are more busy and some are really really busy (usually the German & Dutch public holidays).

There's also a Renault World Series race meeting on the GP track that weekend which is not a bad event to watch if you're 'fed up' of lapping a kraut's ring.

Well, it'll also be interesting to see if any more GT3's turn up as part of the 911 ring trip.

I've never seen so many GT3RS's as I have at the ring.

GT3s are the track weapon of choice for those that can afford them.

The only people who can keep up with them are the locals/regulars in diesel Polos/Golfs or the other track-prepared Ring-sgs

The last time I was there, I only saw 3 e34 M5s - although I also saw about 12 NSXs and a similar number of GT3s a few Turbos and one GT2.

we've a track/event day at a local NATO helicopter base the on the 30th, thats should be great fun to!

The benefit of staying over somewhere close is that you get to use the track when it's nearly empty before 9am, and then after 5pm.
