Autoglym polish
Discussion
I have just bought another imp, all teh paint work is in very good condition so i thought i'd polish the paint work to keep it that way. i used autoglym resin polish as i have done with all the other cars.
But it seems to be talkign a reaction to my paintwork in the rain. when it gets wet and leaves the balls or rain on my car it leaves a white mark on the paint. not good and could start to ruin a good car.
Has anybody else had this problem?
Cheers in advance

Seriously chap, this is just a polish. Use it to clean the paintwork and give it a shine - then seal it with the Autoglym hard seal stuff (Gold label, can't remember what it's called).
Otherwise pointless as the shine/protection barely lasts any time at all.
I suspect that you're putting too much polich on, not working it doen properly and just buffing it; what you're seeing is puddles of the fine abrasive powder they use to clean the paintwork. Should itself polish out?

As HF pointed out, Autoglym SRP will leave a powdery residue if you use too much, use less and the powder will not be present.
The SPR is a polish and won't protect your paintwork particularly well, although it will offer some beading (water repellant - hence the 'bobbles' of water) it does have mild abrasives too, so will mask some of the minor swirling on your paintwork rather than correct them.
I think the sealant HF refers to is Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection, it's a good product, and again, you don't need to use a lot. Less is more with most Autoglym products, and IMO they're very good.

You need to start waxing your car, every 8-10 weeks with a decent quality carnuba rich wax. Polish offers no protection to paintwork, but layers of sealent and wax will offer an amazing shine and beading. It will also make less dirt and road griome stick to your paintwork, making washing less time consuming.
SRP does protect, it's not just a polish, it will only last about 2 weeks though!
Srp will mask the light swirls etc, if you want long lasting prtection buy some wax Autoglym etra goss protectan, or if you want some serious protection Go for Collinite 476, which is dirt cheap, and have seen a good 5-6 months protection!

I'll chip in with Bilt Hamber Autobalm - okay so you'll need to order it online rather than walk into your nearest motor factors or Halfords, but it'll boost the swirl masking that SRP does, and will outlast EGP and Collinite, which is a stonking carnauba wax by any stretch of the imagination.
See what it'll do for depth and wet-look as well.
