Have had a concept in my mind for some time of posting up photos of the Diablo that would allow some interaction from the viewer, things like being able to open doors and engine compartments, as well as changing the viewing angle.

I have finally got round to taking all the photographs I needed to allow this all to work, and would welcome any feedback on the concept from you guys.

You can find the whole thing here http://www.88qv.com/tour/Pages/Virtual%20Tour.htm

Hi,

Entertaining idea. I remember seeing a Diablo for sale at Carlo's (is it Top Gear) and being able to run over a couple of different views with the mouse which had the effect of making the door open. It kept my simple mind occupied for minutes.

In terms of what you've done there, the only thing I would suggest it managing the way the photo's transition. When downloading (it may be my laptop that is slow) the effect was lost as the screen went temporarily black. It looked great when I then used my back/fwd icons on the browser as the image was there instantly. I dont know if you could change the transition settings somehow?

As an asside, thats a superb looking machine.

Blimey, having had a bit more of a play with it, you really have (literally) covered all the angles! Its very clever.

I think it's brilliant. A very good concept that could be sold to car dealers imo.

edited to say I really enjoyed the story of how you came to be the owner of the GT.

How wonderful to see the Colossal Luggage Compartment and the Seat of Passenger Terror once again...

Great idea DelBoy - why not get some extra photo of the owl(s?) swooping around the car as well...

Looks good.

I've been trying to figure out how to do one using Flash.

The plan was to have it rotate around. Easy to do with a small object, but on a car it's a bit more difficult.

I did wonder about the transition time when switching to a new view, which is why I have used relatively lo-res pictures to help speed up the download time.

My web building skills are fairly basic and if there is a way of pre-loading any subsequent images to avoid the delay when switching, I wouldn't know how to implement it. Perhaps I should go and post a question in the computing section.

hehe I treid that too!

DIW, I dont know about the page transition - ther must be something. My knowledge is basic too, but it would be good to have a "please wait" and keep the current pic while the next is uploading? Again, great idea.

I did think about having a 'turn the lights on option' but I didn't think of it until after I had taken all the photos. Currently there are 128 different photos available to cater for all the different door/compartment combinations. As the lights are visible in 96 of those combinations, it would have meant an awful lot more photos and work to make it available.

Has anyone found the 'start the engine' option yet?

Just kidding, but again, I did think about it. Just need to make a suitable recording.
