Driven to the Northern point of Scotland soon then along the coast, is there any highly regarded driving roads or areas I should go to?

Will be taking my old 1994 525 touring so will be a wafting trip so scenery etc is just as important as that certainly isnt much fun to hussle alongwink

From Durness in the North I advise to head down the West coast to Ullapool. Then take the scenic coastal route from Ullapool to Gairloch and Shieldaig(you could do a detour to Applecross from here, interesting road with great views on a clear day)
Continue through Strathcarron and you could then either head to Kyle of Lochalsh and the Isle of Skye, or just head down to Fort William and Glen Coe (good road but can be busy in the Summer)

Sorry I don't know the road names.
Enjoy!

Edit to add some of the roads above Strathcarron have single track parts to them.

Continue through Strathcarron and you could then either head to Kyle of Lochalsh and the Isle of Skye,
Or - cross into Skye - travel down the coast to Armadale (NB -check ferry times and that it's working) ---cross over to Mallaig . Head for Fort William , but at Morar - head into Morar ,take Bracara road (very single track , one way road ) to head of Loch Morar (famed for Morag the monster ,who appears prior to the death of the head of the MacDonell clan).Beautiful views of Loch Morar .Return via side of Morar dam to go over bridge over river Morar and hence to new road (this was only way out up until recently).Carry on till Lochailort . Turn right onto the A861 (if tide is out (and you find the road it's possible to cross over the Ford to Shona Bheag .(http://www.streetmap.co.uk/newmap.srf?x=168500&y=774500&z=4&sv=168500,774500&st=4&ar=N&mapp=newmap.srf&searchp=newsearch.srf&ax=176500&ay=782500)

After a bit (somewher around Acharacle ) road reverts to single track .At Salen - keep on the A861 passing through Strontian and after that you have the choice -A884 to Lochaline and ferry to Oban -or carry on A861 to Corran - thence left to Fort William or right to go south -perhaps you might want to try the old road through Kinlochleven to Glencoe (best this way - any mistakes you hit rock -other direction - it's flying into the loch -anything from a few feet to a long way down --used to be the only way at night and in winter ,before the bridge )

Just something to give you ideas - most of it routine scenary to me as a lot of it was daily travel in my mispent yoof - but mrs w thinks its fantastic .

Hi there.

Just noticed this thread so I've signed up to let you have a look at a trip I did last weekend with a couple of mates.
