Hi There,

After an engine rebuild a couple of years ago by Austec - they advised me to run the S3 on Semi Synthetic from then on.

I was just wondering if anyone had any opinions as to which oils would be best? Have been using Magnatec to date.

Thanks,

Danny

hi, the answer is simply to change the oil as regular as possible, although it is advised that a 50 grade oil is used to cope with the high running temperatures.

I suspect you'll get many opinions! I'm also on the Magnatec (95k standard engine) and as mentioned, change it frequently. Must be sad but I like the Castrol smell when it gets warm!hippy

Any more options on which oil?
Mobil 1 is whats in the owners book and the bible but a lot of owners seem to be using cheaper alternatives. As its going to be changed regularly i could do with saving a few quid.

own preference but i used magnatec in my westfield and it smelled awfull!

See this link

It may confuse, but to be honest you pays your money and takes your choice I think. I use any mid-priced semi synthetic 5W40 oil as recommended to me for the cologne by my friendly mechanic
