Seat belt

My 3R has just failed its MOT for a frayed seat belt. Does anyone know what car the seat belt is from so I can get a new one?

It also failed for the handbrake being weak on one side any advice on what may be wrong would be greatly appreciated as would love to get it fixed to take down to classic Le Mans this weekend

if the harnesses are fitted take the seat belts out and go for a retest?

going to do that to get it through the retest as I don't think I can get the part in time, but would like to keep both longer term

I thought it was illegal to wear the harnesses on the road?

If you have a look on the buckle part you will find the makers name, do a google and give them a ring, that's what I did, but then decided to fit a different type. ( The solid anchor part kept sticking into the side of my partner, so I fitted a normal webbing style one ).

I've only ever used the harness in nearly 4 years of ownership and never been pulled.

I never wear the harness as I find it a bit restrictive for road driving, especially round the town. But the missus always insists on wearing it for some odd reason.

only ever use harnesses and took seatbelts out as i hated all the various straps and clips cluttering the place up

I'd check the shoe adjustment on the weak side - may have to be tightened up a click or two. Also, make sure the shoe is moving freely and isn't sticking in the retaining clip. After that, check the cables on both sides to make sure they aren't binding - in the US, I've seen a few cars where the heat of the front turbo melted the inner lining of one of the handbrake cables, causing that side to stick.

Funnily enough mine failed the MOT for the handbrake failing on one side.
They found the adjuster had been wound to the maximum position.
Simple unwinding and readjustment of the shoe solved it for me.
About £40.

Seatbelts are Securon Part Number 500/30.
