Ref my previous post regarding the boot catch fault.
The problem was the solenoid was not allowing the cable to fully return by a couple of mm.
Checked all the wiring and there is no feed to the solenid switch,Where does the feed come from,i've checked all the fuses and they are okay.
I've made a new cable system which is working well but i would like to reinstste the original system aswell.
Cheers
John

Check for a voltage at the switch. At the same time check the operation of the switch (ie. check for 12V at its output when pressed).

I think the supply runs through a multi-connector in the 'B' post behind the flap behind the driver's seat. Connections to everything electrical beyond the 'B' post (rear lights, fuel pump etc.) are often caused by poor connections here.

You will have to trace the supply wire back to the fuse box. Looking on the bright side it isn't too far and it might not be that bad to do. Are you sure you have not missed a bad fuse or fuse connection? Anything else not working?

Failing that, if you have replaced it with a new good fused supply I would call it a day, although I fully understand you wanting it to be original if possible smile

John, forgive me for making this suggestion, but, I presume you've disabled the alarm/immob and have the ignition turned on.getmecoat

can you not run a new feed from the fuse box or battery (fused) to the switch if all else fails?

i assumed, the cable system was a hand pull one to open the boot, and not a wired feed .

sorry, ill go hide now

Sorted and thanks for the interest.
2 faults found.
The feed cable to the switch runs under the dash in the vicinity of the fiberglass air vent, this had made contact and damaged the cable.
Removed the solenoid and stripped it down, the armature was broken and fragments were jamming up the inside.
I have now bypassed the complete system by installing a different cable system which works well, but i want to reinstall the original has a backup.
The motor is very small and could possibly be purchased from Maplins and everything re-assembled.
Has anyone got a part number for this motor.?
Cheers
