Damn and b@llocks............. towing a monaro?
Discussion
Bloody temp needle shot up, pulled over and it burped out about a litre of coolant and could hear boiling in the radiator so need to get it recovered.
Question in preperation for the AA coming is, will it damage gearbox or diff to have it towed by an AA van, not by a non-existant tow-hook, but on those contraptions where the front wheels are lifted clear of the ground?
Thanks.......

thanks for the replies guys, they won't need to drag it on as it still moves but will overheat once its up to temperature
It's stranded in north east london at the moment, just debating whether to recover it to Brown's in Loughton because its 15 mins away or otherwise Greens who would be an hour away but they do all the usual work on it and I trust em.
Anyone used Browns by any chance? :hopefullsmiley:

I tried to use Browns once, but they had my car all day and didn't touch it, so I took it home.

Mine went on a flat bed...
Please write a letter to the top man at GM UK thats what I did (I can supply details). Of course they denied that this was an issue.
This is a major issue and GM need to admit this.
The overheating? Any ideas what the problem is? Fans still working, no obvious cause........Please write a letter to the top man at GM UK thats what I did (I can supply details). Of course they denied that this was an issue.

I've used browns before. Only complaint is that the service area is a bugger to get to and it's very crowded.
Other than that no complaints.
Spluttering coolant could be lots of things - depends what you were doing before it went.
Assuming the fans are ok my biggest concern would be a head gasket failure (no idea how common these are on LSx engines).

hmmm think I'm gonna get it recovered to Browns then, cannot be bothered with a 2hr round trip after work!
Wasn't taxing it, drove 4minutes from in laws house to petrol station fine, pulled out, got back too inlaws house then: beep beep beep high temp warning
When its off both fans are going full pelt and the radiator area sounds like a bubbling kettle! Couldn't see any loose hoses either....
Thanks for all the advice so far
Ps no water/oil sludge on dip stick or oil cap that I can see.

:redfaced: if you would be so kind as to indicate where that would be?
edited to add: All belts at the front are fine.
I did consider water pump as the Leon Cupra I used to have had a plastic impeller in the pump that used to snap of and produce the same symptoms although that would initiate limp home mode which I'm assuming the Monaro doesn't have.
Oh and I've PM'd you on a seperate issue
