I remember doing my ARDS test at Aintree. I can't remember the chap's last name, but his first name was Malcolm, he was the head honcho at Aintree (which is actually at Three Sisters in Wigan, obviously).
Anyway, he told me he was 18 stone and could fit into a FF1600 without too many problems. He looked to be about 6', mayber 6'2" at most. I don't think it was one of the latest models though - have the cockpits gotten smaller over the years to accomodate the standard driver size nowadays?

I'm 6'3", and I fitted (just) into my own FF. The old school Van Diemens at Silverstone could be set up for me too, I just had to mention that I needed a "long car" when I made my bookings!
Gerry Marshall managed to fit in an FF many years ago, and he was not exactly dainty either.
I doubt you'll manage to get in a more modern car though, and even then you'd have to take the owner's seat out and adjust the pedals, I expect.

The Ray GRS08 is the easiest car to get in and out of. The Mygale SJ08 is the best car at the moment; however you will need pads on your knees and elbows.

IIRC Gerry's car was a (Clubmans) U2 which was a front-engined 2-seater, suitably modified. I could be wrong but I think being front-engined allowed them to use a LSD, which was not allowed for the mid-engined cars.I'm 6'4 and 15 stone.
I've struggled with a fair few of newer cars but with some time to fiddle around with pedals etc I can get in most of them.
On a classic note I raced a Lola T642 a couple of seasons ago and that had buckets of room! I raced a Lotus 61 as well but it was a bit tight.

When at Castle Combe I was put in the long one. I managed to drive it but would not risk going full pelt as I could only get about 1/8th of a turn of lock before the steering wheel hit my knees. I'm 6'1 and 14stone.
I tried a few when at Combe a couple of years ago and I didn't feel comfortable or confident in any of them, I'm 6'1" and was (at the time, pre diet) 18 stone.DSM2 said:

Head Honcho is Malcolm Barfoot who won several FF1600 championships in his younger days.
