Search function

Could someone explain exactly how it works - what is the magical function that you have to use to find something?

Obviously with the living terror that are the repost police floating about, I try to search before posting up a link to something, but I've yet to return a result.

Todays was the teenage girl that found a bat in her bra.

Search for bat, sort by most recent.... and nothing appears in the first 4 pages.

Go to the Pie and Piston for final check... it's on the first page of the thread list. Why doesn't it appear on the search?

Due to the size of the database the system is searching through a decision was made to speed up the search (and thus to have little effect on the forums) by using a backup of the database for searching.

Early every morning (around 2-7am) the forums are copied to a search database which is then used for that days searching. This means that anything added after 7am on that day is not in the search database.

We have a solution to this problem which we will hope to implement soon, but are just trying to find some time to test its effect on the system.
