do all rearnumber plates on a Griffith have to be a honeycombe style type to let the light through? Just bough a private plate for mine, and went to take the old ones off and saw that there were Honeycombe, and my new ones are not!! Its not that I should of noticed before (what with cleaning the car etc) but i only got the car last night, and I had had the plates made up during the day prior to collecting it! Does it matter or have i made a school boy error??????

Is the light recessed behind the plate?

Some of the last 100 had the plates angled into the recess to allow the lights to light them directly, but nearly all Griffs have rear lit number plates.
I ran mine for about 3 years with a standard plate on and had no aggro, wouldnt worry about it until you can get a honeycomb one.
Its also worth fitting some of that shiny "metal" tape into the recess to help the lights a little.

That's a good idea. I get two bright patches directly in front of the lamps but the rest is pretty dark. It's not the legality I'm concerned with - it just looks a bit naff.

Try http://www.fancyplates.com/ Haven't bought a translucent TVR plate from them (yet) but they do them and I've had good service from them before.

They do them, no problem, though sometimes takes a couple of days extra to source the TVR backlit plates. On the website order form you have to go through the "custom" plate route IIRC, but you don't specify the TVR backlit plate until about page 3!

Also suggest you don't use their fixing pads - have lost plates before from just coming adrift.

Had some tvr spesific plates from fancyplates recently, like above they do the honeycomb versions but you have to order them as such, its on the drop down menu on the order page....... expensive though at nearly £50 a pair delivered, although i did get a three quarter sized front plate, although if i recall correct the main increase over normal plates was for the rear tvr version..... the sticky pads that came with mine are fine.
