Ignore feature

So do you mean if you select to 'ignore' a particular user, their posts wouldn't be visible to you on a thread?
Maybe activated by a toggle against their user name?
Interesting idea- any other views on this?
Yep, if you don't like someone, you stick them on ignore and don't see anything they post in the future (unless someone else quotes something they have said).Maybe activated by a toggle against their user name?

Not everyone is going to get on on a big forum, so users have the ability to ignore the people they think are morons. Every other forum i have used has this feature and it works pretty well.

Agree with Tony on this one. Funnily enough, its easy enough to skip over posts you dont want to read. Und it schtill makes sense
Generally the ignore function leaves a stub entry - XXX has posted on this thread - click here to read their post. And it creates a mental hiccup, which is considerably more annoying than the actual post.
If we could leave it as it is, that would be fantastic. Thanks. Besides which, Rich would have no-one to talk to anymore.

I fully agree with both Tonytone and Randy on this one.

From a useability perspective it would make the forum software scan unnaturally.

That was EXACTLY what I had in mind when I wrote that

I can see it being one of those things which is implemented and then phased out very quickly because those who choose to ignore someone will be plighted with curiosity to see what they said which then caused XYZ.
There's lots of good ideas put in website feedback (and discussed amongst HM) and I'd suggest that time would be better spent on those ideas, rather than this.
Just my humble opinion of course

PS: I agree with Stovey above too, either way it's not pretty, doesn't scan very well, and interupts the flow of reading.
