the pipes???

they are coming on slowly . iam changing the clocks to an all in one dash. i have brought a race-pak. so i will need to remove old clocks fill the holes and recover. can i get a hump to
go behind steering wheel any idea s.

hi i had thought about it . with having slip on collectors i might make another one up to try more so to keep the noise down.do you no where i can get the bump to fit my new dash behind the steering wheel.

Mine had to be fabricated to suite my AIM Pista and associated warning lights etc.

No problem, it is meant to be the reason for this place. The balance pipe is a Yankee idea and by fitting a pipe to link the two banks together close behind the collectors, it is used to promote torque and has the added advantage of quietening the exhaust note to some degree.

The system looks nice. A good job. I remember a similar exhaust on the first factory demonstrator and somebody at the factory told me that it had a problem........the proximity to the carb injects hot air directly to the air filter. In fact I remember the demonstrator (blue car) with metallic shields between the exhaust pipes and the air filter to protect it from hot.......mmm?

Wayne, do you know how to calculate the balance pipe diameter ? or it is not relevant.

I do not think that it is relevant and on the GTW the balance pipe is only a little smaller in diameter than the collector outlet but I dare say another source may contradict this.

The balance pipe should be at least 2.25inch . 2.5 - 2.75inch works best. I'm quoting David Vizard with these figures.

Guys: with space at a premium this may not be possible. but the next step beyond the balance pipe is to bring the two exhausts side by side merge them for a length and then go into a single exhaust "a big one" or reseperate them and use two mufflers. I will soon find out the practicality of this. Lee

hi all thanks for thoughts about the heat from the pipes. i had planned to make up some heat sheilds. and will do now for sure. i agree the pipes are a bit close to the carb but needed to take that route to get the correct size and lenght primarys can t wait to run it up with the new pipes . but don t think they will be ready for the next outing so back to std . fitting new dash theres not much that can t do.
