Any tips for eateries not far from Goodwood, with good food, beer, garden etc.
I am sure a drive into the Downs will turn something up, but with all the extra bodies around actually getting served may be a problem.

Royal Oak in Lavant is certainly worth a visit and also the Fox Goes Free at Charlton (just over the hill, at the back of the racecourse)and the Anglesey Arms at Halnaker is probably the closest good pub.

The Fox goes free in Singleton good Beer and food with a nice garden which is reasonably priced. The Gribble in Oving with it's own micro brewery which does good food with a nice garden. There is the the Earl of March in Lavant which is behind the Royal Oak. Good Beer, food, not much garden and rather expensive. All about five minutes drive from Goodwood on a good day!

There is the Black Rabbit in Arundel which is by the river. Nice on a summers night.

The Ship - Itchenor

About 6 or 7 miles away but a beautiful location just outside of Chichester yacht basin. It's where we normally end up.

Star and Garter at East Dean is a few minutes away, nice place with fairly posh food and a garden :-

Crab and Lobster in Siddlesham, is owned by the same people as the Royal Oak, Lavant, and is an amazing fish restaurant. - You will need to book though, and I would think that this late everything will be booked up
