Due to my personal situation i will be putting my 04 CV8 up for sale in Aug. Well pssied off but i dont have a choice (unless someone wants a 3 bed house in Dorset LOL)Anyhoo, im wondering what to put it for. It has a Ripshifter, Tubular manifolds+sport cats Wortec exhaust, remap to 393.4bhp, Baer brakes with performance friction pads fr and rr, 19" rims with good tyres. MOT till may 09, tax due end of oct. It will have 61k ish miles and will have had a full service carried out. It looks like this.It has a few car park door dents, nearside wheel rim cover is scuffed otherwise its in good condition.

going rate is from 12-15k, suggest yours might just about squeeze towards 14k with the mods and the mileage.

£12 - 15k might be the range that they are being advertised at on Pistonheads, but I don't think anyone is selling any at all at the moment. I put Tilers old wheels on this week http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/600791.htm
at what I would think is a very keen price (with at least £20,000 of mods) and have had sipo response at all. I haven't even had anyone wanting to advertise it for me ! Monkfish couldn't sell the demo car with a supercharger fitted, and have had no interest in their yellow CV8 at £12500 with very very low miles. So I wouldn't hold your breath........put it on for £10k and you might actually sell it.

There is a lesson there somewhere.

How about this for an idea. As Mr Pool Man says, Monaro's are worth more down under. You could advertise it on ls1.com.au or other similar sites. trademe.co.nz etc you could organise shipping etc and do an RAC report etc. See if you get a better reponse and value? They are still on a roll down there with all their commodities.

I had the same thoughts. I've had mine for almost three months now, yet when I look on AutoTrader/PH many of the cars I considered at the time are still advertised. It's only worth what it will sell for ultimately.

This all very depressing, but with the credit crunch, sky high petrol prices etc etc
I have been offered £12000 trade in !!!!!!
So I have just knocked another £1000 of the price of mine.
So anyone know anyone with a good insurance history looking for a very fast car ????

I am currently typing an advert to sell my 2 kids to buy this. A lovely lovely car and a sad reflection on the current financial climate frown

Just for kicks, what IS the insurance/mpg like? smile

I am paying £1400 a year, but remember I did write off my last Monaro June 2007 after some sideways action in the rain. Tiler (previous owner) was paying about half that by all accounts - both through A plan.
On my daily run to work and back on nice A roads I get 12-13MPG, but on a long run it gets very close to 20MPG

I've been considering selling my low mileage CV8 and getting a VXR before I start with modifications. So if any VXR owners want to free up some funds, and still be sat in a Monaro at the end of it, let me know.

If I gave mine away do you think I could save some more money for petrol?
My mpg is about the same
average 14 most of the time, seen 20.4 at it's highest just the once after a VERY boring 2 days of distance on the cruise control.

??

false economy, you can get the exact same power from mods as with the vxr, with the thousands you will save on the trade up you could use that for your mods or extra mods that would cost you additional on the vxr

Don't get me wrong - I understand the economics of it (I've chatted with a few people about this). I just always liked the VXR but couldn't quite stretch to one when I bought the CV8. Also having driven the modified VXR demonstrator at Monkfish (not on their website yet) there's an element of "I want one just like that" involved here.

I'm still loving the CV8 though, and it's getting a Focus Pac in a few weeks whatever happens smile

The market has collapsed for these cars. I dread to think what mine is worth seeing as all the others have 40k+ less miles.

It is a false economy unless you do a million miles a month. I have considered LPG though. I recon within 6 months I'll be quids in. Can you NA mod with LPG?

Thankfully VED is only going to £450 and not the 4k for newer cars.

(p.s. I cant spell)

Yeah NA mods are still valid with LPG.

I dont know how you only get 14 Gas Man. Mind you I do loads of motorway miles. Sitting on 24.5 at present. Better than my mates 2L diesel smile Though his is mostly around town driving.

My average includes about 4 Santa Pod runs and some hefty footing around though.
