The Ring....you have to go

Well, after 3 days of rain, we finally got a dry evening, and it was the most amazing circuit for me, my car and my car-mad kid. I'm embarrrased to say my time after 3 laps was only approx 9.45, but there were a few small holdups. It is an easy circuit to drive in an ultima, with loads of sweeping curves and double apexes, surprising bends, ups and downs and best of all loads of grip when dry. But you all have to come here and get a few runs, it is better than any circuit I've been to, and the car has so much in reserve over my abilities, absolutely fantastic circuit, which as GTW said, our cars were made for this. There will be a video of the last lap, [please excuse the rattling gearchange linkage that has taken me ages to diagnose] which I will endeavour to post asap, along with a few pics, but if you can, book a trip here and pray for good weather.
Don't ask me I'm a dozy numpty compared to the superstars who can drive for real.......but if you want my opinion, based on how easily the factory trounced the TG lap, then yes with the right or perhaps same driver as others. But why not have a go yourself, it is brilliant when the sun shines, absolutely brilliant.......now comes the 800 miles home.

9.45 is not to be sniffed at, in fact it's pretty darn good for a first run. I'll be back over in September all being well.

We went with Ron's 75 experience earlier this year, mostly it has to be said because of the rain and a lack of desire to stack our very own shiny red car into a welcoming and expensive barrier. Even the ring tax stacked it on the day we went out!
I have to say it was well worth every penny even though we only took the 2.0 car rather than the 3.0, it would have even been hard to get that traction, there were plenty of people spinning 2.0s on the day, we were either lucky, good or not trying hard enough, I'll let you decide
Ron took us out for two spotting laps and then we drove one alfa behind him for two laps each. It'll be worth doing in the dry next time, hopefully, as we found out that the line is very different in the wet.
We also went round in the ring taxi (are we mad? See note above...) and it lapped in just under 10 minutes which was in the wet very fast, we were doing about 13 in the Ginetta but all over the place. To be fair timing of the first few trips is not easy, it's more about staying out of the scenery and not bumping in to anyone.

and I am very glad to say I did avoid all the bits that would have hurt. I was interested to know what time my efforts gave, and content at that for a first-timer. I probably will go back and get some professional help, but I would also quite happily go back and just do a few more laps on my own. It's up to each and every individual how fast they want to go and how close to their limits they want to be, most of the time when it's dry, I'm quite happy not to get too close to mine and risk stacking it. That's probably why I'm not going to set any records! 
I thought it was this week you were going tim not last week,if i knew it was i would have gave you a lone of the bullet camera as alex was talking about going to cadwell this week which is what i was keeping it for (not going now though as the evo is away getting more stuff done it to). How did you manage to do the videos? and how did you get passed the noise restrictions,your car isnt exactly quiet
