I was going to say 100k, but feared the tumbleweed in my thread.

Was it achieved on your original engine??

So, please add a new dimension to the long running oil debates and tell us what oil you have been using?

nearly, 73,340 and feels as good as new.....er better actually as I've found owning these things is like a constant refurb.
Handles better, more powerful, sounds gruntier, has better shiney bits and better (according to taste) wheels.
As for oil I use 5/40 full synth. I would like something heavier but this stuff seems to work fine with cylinder leak up rates at 5/7% which is damn good on an engine with these miles.

In one word YES.

currently still using Mobil 1 but want to change to a semi with a little more thickness - requires too much topping up.

Edited to add NO engine work YET! - other than regular servicing..

My old 4.0 Griff had done 96K miles when I px-ed it on my 5.0 Griff (I bought it with 71K miles on the clock) - I did 19K miles in 18 months in that (though it did then need a new cam).

72k and the engine feels fine.
BTW what is it with the mantra that RV8's like to be used? I'm not sure that my car is necesarily getting better with age, but it does seem grumpy for a few miles if it hasn't been used for several days. What is the science for this?
Oh yeah, no engine work has been required :touchingwood:

Edit:Castrol Magnatec probably uses about 1/2 litre per 1000 miles

109 on the clock, no engine work, 1 clutch at 104, still going strong, but then I am getting old now so taking it easy on the girl. She is a '96 400 Chimaera.

God I love driving her, use Mob 1 all its life, went to the thicker Mob 1 when it came out. It has a full TVRSH right up to date, every 6000 miles. Not bad me thinks, but I bet now I have praised her the gods will not shine on me long!!

Still Happy,

Colin L
