Linking up my pc?

I have a 1999 T reg 4.5, can anyone give me some advice on how to link up the pc and the software needed. I am not technicaly minded but wish to learn as much as poss. Having said that I did replace the door locking mechanism today which now actually works!!!! Thanks guys.

Start with downloading software and other useful stuff such as a manual for the software from this site:

OK - you've pulled down the old diagnostics software, but the newer stuff sometimes works better. Don't forget to pull down Peppes guide as well. Although it's written for the speed 6 it's very useful as a starting point.

Also section G of the workshop manual gives details of engine setup. 61Mb download though.
