Have now got the code reader but do I have the socket? Can anybody confirm that on their pre-cat they have or alternatively definitely have not got the socket fitted in the loom. It may be there on mine but it's not obvious, therefore before I go and disturb a whole lot wiring looking for it how likely is it to be there?

Hi,

I have a late 94 Griffith 500 and there is no black 4 pin socket in the loom for the code reader as supplied by Land Rover- just the white 5 pin diagnostic socket.

Funny this one, I appear to have both connectors on my 1992 loom, but the 5 pin white connector has a loop back plug fitted. I did notice the wire colours on the reader are the same as the ones in the loom on my black connector, so it might be worth pulling the ECU connector off and seeing if the same colours exist on ECU plug. Ill have a good dig about in the Land Rover manuals as well.

I have the white connector that has a "loop back plug fitted" resting on the top of the battery. The fuse box etc on mine was re-wired brilliantly by the former owner with all cables and relays mounted to fixed boards so it's all very neat and secure, if the socket is there it may have been tucked out of the way?

Found it!! tyrapped to the back of the heater control board. Code reader works - result! Well when I say it works: if the battery is disconnected briefly it shows code 02, on reset shows nothing. So all is good?
Thanks to those who replied.
