Quoting from a poster on that site:

"There's about 4 of these no-frills supercar makers on the market (Noble, Mosler, etc.). They are all similarly uninspired, both in technology and styling. No ABS and no traction control? With those numbers, you need ABS and traction control. I think their absence has less to do with it being a "driver's car" and more to do with an inability to produce and integrate those very complicated systems. "German food"? I wonder which car would post a better 'Ring number.
Meh
July 12 - 5:27pm PT"

What a pleb.

Was there any need for the 'idiot' ?

To call ABS a very complicated system is idiotic.

To call the styling uninspiring is subjective.

To call the technology uninspiring is ignorant.

Your post is thoughtless.

Can you please then tell me why you agree with his point?

In his videos.. his Corvette C6RS is mighty impressive.

Being a Porsche man through and through, it pains me to say - Id actually consider a Z06, just the small matter of a 7.0 litre V8 puts me off..

...and I thought I hated Clarkson until I saw Jay Leno present a show! What a terrible presenter!

Good Grief Mr Gear
What do you want from a presenter...if Clarkson and Leno are bad what could possibly be good, or are you simply the kind of curmudgeon that is never happy?

Very cool car, love it thumbup

Could do with slightly less "look at us we're great" but hey ho, I can live with that, it's nice to see people with pride in something.

Very nice car but doesn't quite do it for me like the Veyron did. If this really is the fastest production car in the world, why has noone heard of it? Why have the media no picked up on it like they did the Veyron?

Not doubting any claims but why no hype?

Also, its styling really is a generic supercar. It exactly the car 10 year olds draw when trying to draw a ferrari. More a late 80s/early 90s style super car rather than a 2008 supercar. The Veyron, for example, is uniquely styled. The front end with the giant nose of an air intake, its not only gorgeous but something unique to look at. This, on the other hand, just looks like its trying to look like a super car, regardless of whats under the bonnt.

That's great. It being the web and Jay Leno where there are no advertisng axes to grind I give that review a lot of credit.

Looks a lot better with those new wheels and in that colour. The interior is SO much better than the one I've been in too.

Also, that video doesn't even vaguely do justice to the noises that thing makes!

"Here is some German food, let's go eat a Porsche...” What are you, 5? Honestly, these Americans confuse going fast with burning rubber and racing with going round in circles...I would really like to see the times this thing can pull around the “ring” and then I would like to hear him dare compare it to a Carrera GT or an Enzo...I doubt it can lap as fast as my Carrera 2, never mind proper European super cars. Wake up Yanks. There is a reason no one is buying the ZO6, the Mustang or any other oversized bulldozer of yours over here, even though they are cheaper! You may try to nuke us all away or continue trying to bully us but convincing us you can produce sports cars...FAT CHANCE! Stick to making burgers...

[quote]To call ABS a very complicated system is idiotic.
Itd cost a fair bit to develop independantly and have it work reliably

[quote]To call the styling uninspiring is subjective.
This car looks like a bad copy of an early 90's lambo, even the doors are a rip off. The interior is dreadful for the money or otherwise

[quote]To call the technology uninspiring is ignorant.
Its just sticking a tuned up engine in a lightish car, its been done a thousand times before. At least k'egg have been trying out pneumatic valves and bio fuels.

I wasn’t talking about this car in particular. But again the styling is subjective.
I still don’t know quite what you’re getting at.

"Its just sticking a tuned up engine in a lightish car" - again, how utterly ignorant. I did prepare a good retort but won't post it at the risk of sounding like a prick.

In my opinion you both make a very good point, you both seem to have little knowledge or interest in engineering. Yes the Veyron is a huge achievement, but good engineering does not necessarily have to incorporate massively complicated and intelligent electro-mechanical systems to be pioneering.
