Want to upgrade my forks and was hoping to spend about £150, presumably on a second hand pair.

Something like a Fox Talas 32 comes in at that price (for a recently rebuilt s/h model), anything else I should consider? I do 75% road and 25% offroad, use my bike more like a hybrid so that will influence my choice..

Sounds like you could do with some forks with Lockout seeing as you do a lot of road work.

Check out the CRC website - you may get a decent deal on some New Marzocchi forks for around that money (prob last years model). I got some Marzocchi All Mountain the other year for £170 and they work a treat smile

Is there nothing in the special offers on any of the bike store websites?

www.cyclestore.co.uk are normally cheap.

Yer really great forks but are you sure you can get them for £150?

Gooby do you know whether these forks can do the 09 upgrade and attach the remote for lock out. It suggests you can in the last MTB magazine but didnt know if it applied to these forks?

No idea on remote lock out ( I have 08 model). Why on earth would you need remote lockout? It is 7inch infront of the handle bar? Just lean forward, turn the dial and save the weight.

To be honest I have never had the need to lock my forks out as I dont spent too much time on the road and I have the RLC forks, when on the road I just drop the height to 100 mm, drop the nose of the bike and it flies. Goes over bumps like a magic carpet.

The choice of Talas was influenced by this

http://www.singletrackworld.com/forum/read.php?f=5...

They went for £120, and with a recent rebuild should do my sort of use just fine.

Ones on ebay are similar sort of prices.

That said I have no idea if they are much older spec or something, but do look like very good VFM.

BTW, I run some old Marzocchi Bomber Atom Bombs on my street bike and after 7 or so years (maybe more!) of proper abuse they're still class.

Didnt mention needing itwink

No i just wondered as i've got a orange 5 too with the fox forks.

Although i seem to like to lock out my forks as it makes for better climbing and tbh its not hard just im a lazy bugger.

Fellow orange fanatic! - Hi!
I was told that on new shocks / forks they dont actually completly "lock out" just stiffen to a greater extent. What they found with suspension lockout was that with vibration and shocks going through the locked valving, it caused quite considerable damage in the long term.
