I broke the lid of the mobile storage compartment today! well the hinge anyway..
any idea how to dismantle the centre consol without making things worse ? so I can fix or replace it. Thanks..
before I forget am I right in thinking there might be a factory build sheet somewhere in that area?

Remove the phillips screw at the front of the console (it's offset to the offside of the tray beneath the radio) and then just unclip the console carefully. Start at the back and work forward. Unplug the switch multi plugs for the windows, traction control and fog light.

Hope this helps, but if you need pics I'm sure the Billet shifter site has a couple showing console removal.

You can find full details of this - with pictures - by looking in the FAQ under the replacing the Stereo section. As perviously stated, it is pretty easy - only a few screws really.

Thanks chaps, this forum has provided a mine of useful information again.thumbup
The hinge on my mobile storage compartment has been broken ever since I bought the car over 18 months ago. I've just taken the plunge and had the centre console out going on the information above. It's a bit scarey pulling on the plastic not knowing exactly where to pull and how hard, but it all came out eventually without any incidents.
I was expecting a broken hinge to glue back together but instead I found a piece of plastic with two holes in it floating around on top of the tranmission tunnel. The piece of plastic locates the hinge spindle against the hinge damper and it had just fallen off, there is nothing to hold it on, it's just a push fit. I've used a dab of super glue on both hinges to hold it on to the dampers so hopefully it wont happen again.
l4jor, I doubt very much if you've broken anything and the same thing has probably happened to you.
Thanks again for the info.

I removed the single screw under the radio, and prised off the centre console, hell I was not happy doing this, but it came off without getting damaged.
I found a small spring and a steel pin had dropped out as the hinge was cracked. One drop of super glue and all was fine. Thanks guys......
