Different types of speed cameras?

Can anyone enlighten me as to how the front facing cameras work. I have a radar detector (because I do alot of business miles)but it does not pick up these cameras.
Has anyone been flashed face on by one of these front facing cameras. I passed one a week ago and it flashed the guy overtaking me,the shock of the flash in my face caused me to swerve towards the outside lane. THIS IS A SAFETY CAMERA!!!

The Forward facing ones work with pressure strips in the road and not radar so you will not pick them up.

Sounds like a Truvelo camera. Works by a pair of sensors in the road, just before you get to 3 white lines on the road, so not radar/laser emmissions, for your radar detector to pick up.
