Hi,

Yep the rear belt on mine snapped after just 5000 miles ! no damage done other than the car was low loaded from Yorkshire to Kent for replacement, the cost was covered by network q but took the driver 8 hours !!

Since Santa Pod I now keep a spare belt in my glove box.

Not sure how easy either would be to do yourself, especially the rear one.

Cheers for the replies. Will get hold of a spare set next week and have a go over the weekend. Looking forward to seeing how the front tensioner works/feels as I have my doubts over how good it actually works...

The best get you home is a std belt as the supercharger belt needs the top hose undoing.
Car drives fine with the blower disconnected.
Keep a 15mm spanner with for the tensioner.

Takes 5 mins to change??? I lost about half the material on mine recently, barely hanging on. I was however told that being a belt, it is not covered under warranty, and I would be paying £300+ for the thing to be replaced. Most of this is labour for the removal of the supercharger, which I'm told is necessary for the rear belt!!

Is this wrong? The car is with Pentagon in Burton, as recommended by Wortec.

The car is a VXR500 by the way, so 112 S/C.

Front belt, 5 mins, rear belt blower off, about 1.5 to 2 hours work.

D'oh, thank you for that.

Anyone else of the opinion that maybe these belts aren't really fit for purpose? Is anything stronger available?

For the front. Its the back belt thats the problem on this occasion. But the 8 rib is nice!

I wouldn't say the rear belt isn't up to it. A lot of superchargers out there and very few failures. We have only ever done 2. Belts do a lot of work and won't last forever.
