Along with setting a new lap record at Eastern Creek International Raceway (previously set in a Lamborghini Diablo GTR back in 2004) with a 1:33.4515

This is the first outright win for a Lotus in Aus GT, a top result for Peter Lucas.

Full results are here: http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/results.cgi?13/0...

Nice to see them beating all the other expensive stuff ...the HPE will soon have a name as a giant killer out there, in true Chapman fashion smile

yup, (remeber though the Porka's are in a different class, CAMS will not alow the current 911GT3 to run outside of Porche cup for some questionable reasons...)

TV wise, it's not shown outside of Aus, however, the organisers have discovered Youtube!

http://www.youtube.com/user/AUSTGTCHAMPIONSHIP

So I would expect it to be up there shortly....

Brilliant stuff. How pissed off must all the Ferrari/Lambo/Porsche teems etc be?

Simon, is the yellow car still running a standard 2.0 ltr engine or is it employing some of your latest tricks?

Peters car (the yellow one) ia s bone stock K20A2 with intercolled SC setup on it, basically the same as you have.

I *think* this is the first time a Lotus had ever won a GT race outright (in recent history)...

Truly awesome.

So you can have, near as dammit, a full on GT racer for < £30K.

Possibly a little optimistic. A great deal of attention to detail is required on every aspect of the car, especially suspension and setup to compliment the all the amazing engine development work that was done.

That said, scuffers current chargecooled SC honda solution looks like the way forward.

/checks bank balance.

Sadly in my case, I will never have enough cash to buy myself some driving talent.

..well I think youd need a *bit* more than that if you were paying someone to build/prep it for you...more lke £45-50Kwink ...but essentially, yes, you could get an early S1, fit a SC Honda, and other mods, and have a very quick trackday car for <£30K ...as many hundreds of happy HPE customers know well smile
