Estimate Hours For Turbo Replacement

Hi folks, bit of a long story behind this one.

My car is currently and has been in a garage for 8 weeks! I put it in to get an exhaust made for it and upon replacement they found that one of the turbo's was knackered. So i decded to have both taken off and replaced.

I'm not naming any names as the garage still has my car but today when I phoned (after being told the car might be ready!) the garage owner had a severe attitude and basically told me to let them get on with it and to stop phoning! Nice!

He told me that i had no idea of the amount of work involved in chaning the turbo's (which I'm pretty sure I do!). C

Could someone give me an idea of the work involved, hours, cost etc just for the labour. I feel like i'm going to need some ammo when I go to pick the car up.

Should let people know on Nobleparts so noone else goes there, oh and with a ramp either turbo shouldnt take longer than 2 hours start to finish.

I think Noble recommend around 10 hours for both turbos, but I am sure it's a shorter job than that. I think it depends on the bolts coming off cleanly.

Assuming access to the turbos is simple and a similar installation to most turbocharged cars it should be very straightforward. I've had the turbo on my car removed and refitted twice in the space of a morning without problem.

As has been said, assuming it unbolts cleanly and any gaskets or such don't break or any crap fall into the turbine it's a very simple job - Noble's 10h is a lot. You could take them off, rebuild them, true them and refit in that time I reckon.

In that case, and assuming there's no "trick" used by garages familiar with Nobles to circumvent the problem, then the garage may well be disassembling half your car to change one of the blowers which could explain the delay.

Perhaps they can't work out how it goes together again...?

I'm no expert and I haven't changed the turbos yet, but i have had the whole exhaust off twice in my little garage and it didn't take long.
