Is now the right time to buy a year old MK5 Golf GTi?

I'd pretty much made my mind up that if I can find one for ~£15k then I'd go for it.

Only problem is I'm having second thoughts about it now the Scirocco is out and the MK6 is just around the corner?

Will MK5 GTi residuals take a dive once the Scirroco is in good supply and the MK6 comes out, or is the MK5 GTi a desirable enough car to resist?

The Scirocco might impact on the 3 dr GTI. When is the MK6 out? If it next year then I don't think it will make an impact on MK5s until nearer that time.

Don't worry about what it will be worth when the MK 6 comes out - that won't be for a while yet. Only worry about it's value when you finally want to sell it many years later!

Buy it! It is great value and one of the very best cars that VAG have sold for a long time now (except my MK 4 R32 of course )

Yeh - problem is I keep changing my cars way more often than I should. Current one I've only had since Feb!!! Before that it was only a year.

I need a keeper!
