Le Mans Classic - own up please!

According to this morning's paper the Arnage town hall are not at all pleased with the events of the weekend. Every Arnage sign, arriving from no matter which direction, have been stolen - over a dozen of them. Do they look good in your garage?

No - a glass coffee table sets them off much better, lol!

There were still signs up Monday am - not condoning at all but 12 odd signs vs the massive revenue injection to the town . . .

I have to say that over the weekend I only saw 'dodgy' behaviour from a couple of lads. They were about 16, Dutch and in the Stella Bar with (I guess) their fathers. As they left the bar they were obviously leathered, punched a few signs and then mooned us as we drove by.

The English were very well behaved!

Probably stolen by drivers stuck in traffic at Arnage for 90 minutes mid morning Saturday!

Lowdrag I doubt from the comment by Smash, that they were still there monday, that it was any of our crowd then as most of us left Sunday.

It is a shame that this has occured though as I would not have thought it of those attending the classic. But then you get all sorts I suppose.

Yes 'tis a shame. Oh Lowdrag, does a sign exist which has "Arnarge Mulsanne" on it together, or "Arnarge, Le Mans" together? Just wondering...

On a serious note, I thought of asking the town hall to make me up 50 extra and I'd put them on Ebay. Might just pay for my weekend here that might! We had a great time with never less than 15 any evening for a week, rising to 50 on Friday evening but this time a caterer was brought in to take the strain. The hotels I booked for the English have nothing but praise for the residents and all in all it seems everyone enjoyed themselves. Here's to 2010 but that time I hope to be out on track, not spectating!

The only signs i noticed being carried away were some of the paddock boards which i imagine were to be thrown anyway all Arnage signs that i normally notice were still in place while driving around Sunday midday

one funny moment was on Sunday afternoon. Patrick Peter was with two directors of the ACO when two oiks started tearing down the Le Mans Classic nets on the wire fences - right next to them! They were frog marched out of the circuit!

All signs in and around Arnage were still up on Monday too!

They must of done it themselves to cause a ruck.

No, people shouldn't have stolen them but on the other hand just what WERE the local council thinking leaving them up!

For the 24hrs they all get taken down, put back up Monday - thought I saw someone stealing a Le Mans sign a couple of years back...until I saw them carry it to a Le Mans council van full of Le Mans, etc signs

Why they take them down for the 24hrs is obvious. Why they leave them up for the Classic is confusing.

Because they assume (wrongly it appears) that the Classic visitors aren't thieving pikies who'll take everything that isn't bolted down as well as the stuff that is?

Ahh well sadly they'll know better for next time...

Perhaps that was the real reason "Thieving Pikies" nothing to do with Le Mans Classic spectators?
