Wedge Fuel LRP? 4*? Unleaded? etc?
Discussion
The Cologne engine needs additives to prevent valve seat recession though I think Fords later offering of the 2.9 engine is unleaded friendly. If this is a simple drop in installation or not I don't know. To me the most sensible thing to do is to bulk buy additives to run it on whilst monitoring the valve gaps. When the valves have recessed suitably then either stick a new engine in or replace/rework the heads.
Sounds like plausible enough advice from someone who has never owned a V6... LOL.
I'm sure someone will be along soon enough with real worlds experience/knowledge.

Just a quick question about what Fuel other use in the Tasmin 280i engine?
I believe I am correct they "need" leaded or LRP?
Is this correct?
I have a source of "lead additive" if i need it (i'm using it atm to be on the safe side.
Cheers for any help.
Yes 280i engine needs 4 star leaded.I believe I am correct they "need" leaded or LRP?

I used to put additive ( every other fill up ) in mine, along with a high octane unleaded.
Should be fine.

When it eventually expires, put a 302 Ford in it and you can run unleaded.

I use an additive in my v8 cars, primarily as an octane boost, but it's supposed to be good for valve seats too.
It costs 4p/l to add on top of petrol, and works quite well, it's the Castol Valvemaster plus.
It's quite convenient to add and measure out. I mainly use it 'cos it's a pain to get high octane round my way without paying an arm and a leg. (As opposed to just an arm ;^)

Cheers for the replies, I have found that my lacal Sainsbury's store still does LRP, so should be OK. However I'm buying a box (10 bottles) of addative to keep in the boot to be on the safe side.
I do have some "lead pebbles" in a mesh that could be put in the tank but the guy who sold me the car (and gave me the pebbles) said he was reluctant to put them in as he wasn't sure if they'd damage the fibreglass tanks. Anyone know if these pebbles are OK to put in the TVR tank? I probably won't need them but nice to know if they are "safe" to use.
Thanks again for all your swift replies.

From the factory the tanks are not fiberglass they are steel though some have been changed for stainless/aluminium by the owners.I do have some "lead pebbles" in a mesh that could be put in the tank but the guy who sold me the car (and gave me the pebbles) said he was reluctant to put them in as he wasn't sure if they'd damage the fibreglass tanks. Maybe this is mis-information then.....sad news is the TVR failed the MOT!!Worst problem is a small part on the front suspension that has excess play and is being replaced by the MOT garage for me.
So should still be OK for Wedgefest!.
