THE PROBLEM WITH FORUMS

Firstly i have changed my name to protect my innocence.
Some of you may know who i am??? or do you?
Let my start by saying that i have followed the last few threads with some amusement, and after talking with some of you guys in the past about certain cars that have been spoken about and there owners i think some things need pointing out. Both Jhon and Lee have built or are in the process of building very big hitting cars which are to be used in supercharged outlaw.
they have been built by different poeple in different ways both basically simillar diggers one with a blown nitro motor the other with an ex top methanol engine.
My take on Lee is that he is a very astute guy has been well guided has not gone around hyping up his car he has no axe to grind. what i will say is from what i have seen he likes to joke about and take the preverbial but doesnt take himself to seriously and someone in my opinion who will talk the talk but can walk the walk.
Now jhon another guy who seems to be a very persanable figure but, and this is my opinion, is slightly miss guided. I understand building the car of your dreams is a very exciting prospect but when you have never owned a car before or had a drive down a drag strip and then come out with all the websites boasting 6 second times and 200 mph runs, people within the sport are going to question things about the driver and the car so to that end you must be beyond reproach, in that for instance the chassis, this has been a bone of contention due to its 7.5 tag which also goes for Lee whos chassis i believe is also a 7.50 tag both the guys are putting motors that are to powerfull for those chassis, never mind if they are only running in "lifestyle" events i firmly believe both cars should have cro-moly chassis purly as a safty issue and nothing else.
So to sum up in my eyes it doesnt matter whos car is out as neither have put a number on the boards.
Lee on the forum calm down with the P taking i know you are only haveing sum fun but some people obviosly dont have your warped sence of humour, i get it but it seems some dont.
Jhon my advice would be to keep a lid on the facts and figures and as Lee said let your car do the talking
and to everybody else these two guys in there own way are trying to push the sport in a new direction i find it refreshing that both of them are, along with the likes of Joe Bond are into the nostalgia side of the sport and are young and enthusiastic about it, instead of it being full of us old duffer's

The problem with forums is.... the amount of users that don't re read what they've typed before they whack the submit button. If a few more people did this then I think it would be a different place and we'd know a lot less than we need to.

I have to agree with Chalky and I do not know who he is but I do agree that some of you guys are trying to push the sport in a different direction. I got into this a while back about cars not having C/moly chassis's holding up a blown fuel motor and that still stands. If your cars are capable of less than 7.50 then they should not be allowed on a drag strip unless they meet the correct spec and from what I read here they do not. All this s
t that so and so's car went 7.00 and the car did not fall apart is just crap and you all know it is. Why put your lives, other's lives and the credibility of drag racing in jepody. I see that Lee has now seen the light and has stepped up. This outlaw s

A lot of contributors of this forum have no interest in safety and everytime someone mentions the subject of improving it, it dies of death and the old personel agenda takes over. Jon. I have all the respect in the world for what you have achieved so far and as I have for anyone that has actually built and driven their own machine. We have spoken a few times at SP and you seem inteligent enough, BUT why keep puting yourself in front of the the dartboard. Concentrate on making that car of your's safe and get it down the track when you can, this year, next year who gives a f

cheers Bob finnally someone is on the same page as me with regard to my chassis. I could build my car now and go out and race. There are some people who say "why, you spent shed loads of money and now you are going to spend even more money just to have a sticker on your chassis". But after talking to someone about my concerns of putting such a motor in my chassis, and baring in mind i never originally had the chassis built for this engine, that came a while after it was built, i have decided to bite the bullit and take the loss on what i paid for the chassis and have a sfi 2.2 225" top fuel spec car, not because i am going nitro but simply it is the safest front engined dragster that there is. also i have hopes and aspirations and goals i want to achive, and most of all i want to be taken seriously among the racing community, i dont want people turning round and going "did you see what Lee did.... yea but that chassis is not legal or safe"

I love this sport and agree safty seems to come too far down the list to some people and going fast is all that is important and it will only take one bad accident for H&S to come down on the sport.
As for my car it will be out when its out and when it is it will be as safe as a dragster can be and elligable to enter any MSA event. and as i have said it wont be used in S/O.
