Hi chaps, just a quick one.

I'm off to Morzine for a crazy week of body mutilation at the beginning of August, and as it's my first time I was just wondering what travel insurance people tend to use for such a trip?

Also, is it possible to insure the bike against lost in transit (we are flying BTW).

many thanks
Rpm

For the bike insurace, I would try to extend your household policy. Thats what we do every year.

With regard to the travel insurance, don't waste your money with Snowcard/Dogtag etc, its a huge amount for very little cover benefits.

Have a look around for people with a lax policy wording. Boots for example cover 'MTB' under the standard terms and conditions of a normal policy, with no hazardous activity loading. I have grilled them regarding the finer details & the cover they offer is just as good as any of the specialists. Finally I have found a use for former employment with a large insurer/underwriter for writing policies.

Have fun, we head out this weekend for 3 weeks, insured by Bootswink

I use snowcard every year, and one of my mates has had to claim with them (broke a finger coming down Pleney) and they were very efficient.

Their standard policy will cover your bike for breakages/loss in flight I believe, but as standard only cover your bike for £500 in value. You can increase the limit if you phone them up and pay a little bit more.

I used AA for Mega in Alpe d'Huez. Got the call centre dappy thing to confirm that I would be covered for being airlifted off the mountain and it covers mountain biking.

Cost £14 for the week I think.

if anyone is heading out to the Northern French Alps (Chamonix, Portes Du Solei etc etc) drop me a line as I'd love to meet up for a ride one day!!

We will be in Morzine & surrounding areas from the 20th July to 10th August.

Keep an eye out for a raw Intense Socom, and a raw M3. If they are not together, then something has gone wrong!

I'm in Portes du Soleil (staying in Morzine) from the 2nd to 8th of August.

I'll be on a matt black Orange Crush hardtail, being shaken to death trying to catch up with all my mates on their big fat DH bikeswink
