I've swapped my Ginetta for a Porsche...

...only temporarily though! I was invited to race at Snetterton at the weekend in the Porsche Carrera Cup in the awesome 911 GT3 Cup. I must say that my years of Ginetta racing did help, although left hand drive, sequential gearbox and slicks were new to me! I managed a very respectable 5th in class (pro am 2) in the first race and was going really well in the second race before my rear tyre exploded whilst I was going about 130mph down the start/finish straight!

Back to the Ginetta though for Silverstone next month!!!

If any Pistonheaders were there and got any piccies (I was car Number 45), it'd be great to see them!

I swapped my ginetta for a westfield at the weekend. Had the most fun in ages in some really close races. Two class wins with a 2nd and 3rd overall.

Cars are just like the g20's - big time slipsteaming.

Made me realise that I should have bought a new g20 instead of going for the g50. The racing is just so much better!

Interesting you say the G20 is more fun than the G50, I am testing one next month... oh and RacyLady I will be at Silverstone too for the Club Ginetta round, cant wait!

More fun to race. The G50 is a fantastic car to drive. I just haven't enjoyed the racing nearly as much as the G20.

I think part of the reason for that is the g20 I could fund (just) myself. With the g50 I had to find sponsors and the amount of effort needed to raise the money to race the car meant that it became like going to work instead of being fun.

Someone more affluent who can afford the running costs easily will have a great time racing a 50. If you go for one would you try to run the car yourself Pete like the 20? If so your costs are lower but still £2500 a weekend in fixed costs (entry, insurance, fuel, 4 new tyres).

Ben - Well done with the Westie! Any plans to get out racing again this year - and does your comments mean you'll be back with the G20's next year?
Pete - I'm considering doing the cup race rather than the club race at Silverstone but I've no doubt I'll see you at one of them!

I am going to drive the 50 and see how it is, I would need some sponsorship like you to be able to afford to get out there and race it, also I like to do two seasons in a championship so kind of unwilling to move on yet until I have really challenged for the title in the 20.

I'm racing the westie at donington in three weeks time. unlikely to be out in a 20 again.

I'm not now racing at Silverstone in the Club race as gone and broken my thumb... god damn it, was hoping for a bit of practice before the championship round
